Last week, purchase prices for ferrous scrap rose amid intense competition for free raw materials. At the moment, the average market purchase price of metallurgical enterprises is UAH 6351 / ton, which is UAH 551 higher than the value of the previous week. Ferrous scrap supplies to factories decreased to 56 thousand tons, which is 1.6 thousand tons or 2.8% less than a week earlier.

Ferrous scrap stocks in Ukrainian ports increased to 1.3 thousand tons against 1.2 thousand tons in the previous week.
Dynamics of steel smelting
Steel production fell to 423 thousand tons, which is 5 thousand tons or 1.2% less than a week earlier.
Warehouse stocks of ferrous scrap at metallurgical plants
The level of satisfaction of the needs of metallurgical plants in ferrous scrap was 89%. Remains of ferrous scrap in the factories' warehouses dropped to 94 thousand tons against 96 thousand tons a week earlier. Inventories in working days remained at the level of 10 days, which is slightly below the standard value.
Domestic ferrous scrap price forecast
After the price increase, steelmakers will take a break to assess the effect on supplies. Most likely, buyers will continue to hold prices unchanged. The forecasted average price next week is UAH 6351 / ton.
