Last week (October 22 – 29), metal enterprises kept their purchase prices at UAH 8,700/mt. The prices of scrap collecting companies for grade 3 scrap in the regions were at the level of UAH 7.03-7.08 thousand per ton. The upper border of the price range prevails in the southeastern regions of the country.
Supplies to steel plants
Scrap supplies to metallurgical plants (October 21-27) decreased to 63.7 thousand tons. In the previous week (October 14-20) there were 68.3 thousand tons. The demand for scrap was 60.2 thousand tons. metal plants in scrap last week amounted to 106.8%.
Remains in ports
Scrap stocks in ports increased to 1.7 thousand tons. Last week it was 1.3 thousand tons.
Smelt steel
Steel production on October 21-27 increased to 413 thousand tons. Last week (October 14-20) it was 408 thousand tons.
Scrap stocks at metallurgical enterprises
Remains of scrap in the warehouses of metallurgical plants decreased to 177 thousand tons. Last week it was 207 thousand tons. Inventories in working days are 21 days, which is 10 days higher than the standard value. The highest reserves are at MMK im. Ilyich - 42 days. The lowest - at Elektrostal - 4 days.
Domestic price forecast
In the near future, scrap quotes on the domestic market of Ukraine will move horizontally due to weakening demand for long steel and slower growth of scrap prices in the world. The forecast average price for the current week is UAH 8700/mt.
