Last week (October 29 – November 5), metallurgical enterprises increased purchase prices for scrap metal by 550 UAH up to UAH 9250/mt. The prices of scrap collecting companies for grade 3 scrap in the regions were at the level of UAH 7.47-7.52 thousand per ton. The upper border of the price range prevails in the southeastern regions of the country.
Supplies to steel plants
Scrap supplies to metallurgical plants (October 28 – November 3) increased to 67.4 thousand tons. Last week (October 21 – 27) there were 63.7 thousand tons. The demand for scrap was 59.9 thousand tons. Level of satisfaction the demand of metal plants for scrap last week amounted to 113.6%.
Remains in ports
Scrap stocks in ports decreased to 1.6 thousand tons. Last week there were 1.7 thousand tons.
Smelt steel
Steel production on October 28 - November 3 increased to 415 thousand tons. In the previous week (October 21 – 27) it was 413 thousand tons.
Scrap stocks at metallurgical enterprises
Remains of scrap in warehouses of metallurgical plants increased to 187 thousand tons. Last week it was 177 thousand tons. Inventories in working days are 22 days, which is 10 days higher than the standard value. The highest reserves are at MMK im. Ilyich – 40 days. The lowest – at Elektrostal – 3 days.
Domestic price forecast
In the near future, scrap quotes on the domestic market of Ukraine will move horizontally due to weakening demand for long steel and a slowdown in the growth of scrap prices in the world. The forecast average price for the next week is UAH 9250/mt.
